“Our local takeaways are the beating hearts of our high streets. From incredible Indians to perfect pizzerias, every town has their heroes and every individual has their favourite. Tern were instrumental in supporting the final selection process for our annual ‘British Takeaway Awards’ and provided the extra validation required to help support our judges scoring decisions.
Being able to have a robust and independent third party review of the restaurants shortlisted is an important component of the process. Tern were able to deliver a high volume of reports, with a detailed survey breakdown in a very tight delivery window. We look forward to their support on mystery shopper projects in the future.”
Just Eat is an online food order and delivery service. Acting as an intermediary between independent take-out food outlets and customers it’s the largest online company food ordering company in the UK. Just Eat allows consumers to order food from local eateries and get it delivered to their homes.
To engage with take-out food outlets, Just Eat runs an annually sponsored event called the ‘British Takeaway Awards’ also known as the BTAs. The BTAs provide an important recognition for the best take-out food and service spread regionally across the entire UK.
To aid the judging process we were commissioned to conduct online ordering and take-out mystery shopping assessments to the sector finalists voted for by the public. Shopper were briefed to cover a number of customer touchpoints which assessed the ordering, customer service, delivery speed, presentation and taste of food.
Following completion of the take-out mystery shopping assessments Tern delivered our top secret reports ready for inclusion within the final judging phase. Results were split regionally grading each individual restaurant and providing them with an overall score. The results were complimented with robust evidence including pictures of takeaway packing and presentation and also of the food itself.
